We had a customer the other day that was a bit confused after exporting out a TTM and DXF with no flags in the surface, importing those files into a blank template and seeing flags in the surface. After reaching out I took the data and pulled it into a blank template to see the same issue. The only confusion was the fact that the largest deviation was .006 and the flag still presenting even though the project settings were set to .007. After talking with Trimble, this was the response.
When we import a file that defines the triangles (LandXML, TTM), we set the tolerance to 0.0 so the user knows the triangles don’t match the ones found in the file. If you rebuild the surface, it uses the default tolerance.
We hope this will help in future confusion if this happens to you.
